Thank you for bringing to light the fact that there is no safety testing on Bluetooth headsets, nor frankly have phones themselves ever been tested for their impact on Public Health. Rather phones were rushed into production after FDA approval and the person at FDA that approved them without any safety testing then went on to have a rather profitable career with Motorola. The original wireless phones were widely introduced with the assumption that they could have no effect because their power was too weak.

But as Martin Pall, Joel Moskowitz, and Jerry Philips note, the biological impacts of microwave radiation devices can be considerable. Look no further than to the Cleveland clinic where men who want to father healthy children are routinely advice to get phones off their bodies. This is because controlled studies have shown that human sperm are significantly damaged by current levels of cell phone radiation that do not produce heat and have very weak power but do disrupt the engines of sperm namely the mitochondria of their DNA.

Yes, Bluetooth can be thousands times weaker than the cellular signal. But, no, it has not been shown to be safe. The idea that you would want to bring any form of microwave radiation deeply inside the ear canal in close proximity to the glial cells in the brain seems really ill-advised. Every study that has looked into the issue of long-term cell phone use fines that the longer cell phone users have between 50% to 800% more malignant brain cancer when studied carefully. Those studies that find nothing consider people who have made one Call a week for six months as cell phone users. So when you’re combining those who make almost no calls with those who make several hours of calls a day it’s not surprising that you find nothing overall. But when you consider only the heaviest cell phone users, there is clear evidence that cell phone radiation causes malignant brain cancers.

Malignant brain cancers can take up to 40 years to develop in the general population. That is how long it took for the impact of cigarettes smoking To become evident in the form of higher lung cancer rates in the American population. So the absence of a major epidemic of brain cancer at this time is not proof of safety.

We are paying the price now for having failed to pay attention to the dangers of tobacco, asbestos much sooner. By fostering the widespread use of microwave radiation in our schools and homes we undermine basic educational abilities and the opportunities for families to share their values.

We should not subject our children to a vast global experiment. Decades from now will they look back at at us with gratitude that we took the steps to protect them or with grave disappointment that we failed to pay attention to the warnings of serious independent scientists? With Harvard Safra center for ethics deeming the FCC a captured agency, the fact that the agency has not taken steps to rain in some of these exposures is sadly not surprising
